Have We Forgotten to Look Up?

When was the last time you really looked up?

Not just a glance at the weather or a check to see if it might rain —
I mean really looked.
At the sky.
At the colors brushing across the horizon at sunset.
At the stars trying to whisper ancient truths.
At the clouds, billowing like soft sermons.

When was the last time you just stood there — still —
and let it take your breath away?

We’ve gotten so caught up in what’s happening around us —
appointments, notifications, headlines, tasks —
that we’ve forgotten the One who holds it all above us.

We were made to marvel.
But we’ve traded wonder for screens.
Silence for scrolling.
Presence for productivity.

Have we really gotten so busy, so burdened, so distracted
that we no longer notice the sacred?

When’s the last time you sat by the water,
just to hear the rhythm of the waves crashing against the shore?

When’s the last time you let the sky preach —
without a sermon,
without a song,
without a word —
just the beauty of God, painted in color and cloud?

Creation still worships.
But have we stopped noticing?

Maybe it’s time to pause.
To breathe.
To go outside and just… look up.

Job 37:14
“Stop and consider God’s wonders.”
